Vermont Foam Insulation, Inc. (VFI) was incorporated in 2006 by Joe & Alison Thompson who lived in Southern Vermont. During the same year, Will Reed (brother-in-law to Joe & Alison) began working with the company. At that time, the company was tiny, operated with limited resources and had just one large box truck. Back then, a forklift did not exist, let alone a shop. Material orders were minimal and jobs were completed as they were sold. The company operated much like a three-legged stool. Over the next several years, the company grew steadily and moved to several locations. None of them ideal. From the beginning, as a philosophy, VFI has chosen to re-invest in the business. Today, VFI is located in Chester with almost 10,000 SF of shop space, a satellite office in Manchester for sales and over 8 box trucks. The companyââ¬â¢s capacity and services have expanded proportionately. It has been a continual balance of equipment and staffing, risk and reward. In 2010, Joe & Alison relocated to Marthaââ¬â¢s Vineyard, to operate a separate sister company, Foam Insulation Technology. Will remains in Vermont, as General Manager. In 2013, VFI earned the Department of Energy Century Club Award by insulating over 100 Home Performance with Energy Star (HPwES) retrofits. Actually having retrofitted over 150 buildings that year, this recognition was a major milemark in the companyââ¬â¢s history and demonstrated the companyââ¬â¢s ability to get the job done. Meanwhile, VFI has completed many other major commercial (DHMC, Benson Chevrolet etc), institutional (Castleton, Middlebury etc) and municipal projects (Peru Town Hall etc). The company has collaborated with most of Vermontââ¬â¢s large-scale construction management firms. This has helped the company gain much credibility locally in the construction industry and provided VFI with brand recognition.VFI does not judge its customers and takes pride in serving everyone equally with the same care and concern with meeting expectations and delivering services in the best possible way. Several thousand jobs later, we still strive to do the best job that we can, and continue to learn everyday about the importance of doing good work. Part of that includes investing in our staff. Our technicians are all trained and certified.
